Preview Black History on Milwaukee PBS

Join Milwaukee PBS and the Wisconsin Black Historical Society as we present a preview of three upcoming programs.

About this event

We begin with a preview clip of the documentary, BECOMING FREDERICK DOUGLASS followed by Historian Clayborn Benson, from the Wisconsin Black Historical Society who will talk about Frederick Douglass in Wisconsin and why he was here.

Next, we turn our focus to a preview of the documentary HARRIET TUBMAN: VISIONS OF FREEDOM, followed by Dr. Rob Smith, Professor of History at Marquette University who will share thoughts on Harriet Tubman and the film.

The evening concludes with a brief sneak peek to introduce the new documentary series by Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr., MAKING BLACK AMERICA: THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE, which will premiere in October on PBS. The event is moderated by Earl Arms, host of “Black Nouveau”.
